Learn How To Navigate Course
In this 6 hour course you will be shown how to safely and confidently interpret marine weather forecasts, read nautical charts and topo’s (maps), how to use a compass, how to shoot a bearing, how to plot a course on a chart, how to calculate speed, distance, time, how to plan routes on the great lakes and on oceans, how to use a GPS and learn how tides and currents can influence kayak trip planning.
This will be a hands on course where you will be using compasses, GPS’s, plotting courses on charts, planning journey’s using different navigation tools. You will be interacting with your fellow paddlers and taking part in exercises throughout the day as this should give you the best learning experience.

What To Bring
We will provide charts and topo’s for you to use throughout the day or you can bring your own charts or topo's if you wish to practice on them. A full list on what you need to bring with you will be provided upon sign-up.
