1. Introduction To Kayaking Course Or Kayak Skills Development  Course (One On One Course)

We offer one on one or private kayak courses for new beginners wanting to learn the basics or to try out kayaking for the first time and for experienced kayakers who would like to develop and grow their kayaking skills. To inquire about this course email  or call 647 848 4177.  

2. Introduction To Kayaking Course (Group Course)

This three hour beginner's course focuses on basic paddling strokes, safety and rescue. Whether you are new to paddling or have just never had any formal training, this course offers the skills and knowledge to keep you safe and comfortable on the water. 

We will teach you the following strokes, front stroke, sweep stroke, draw stroke, reverse stroke, how to stop and low brace. We will also show you how to perform a self rescue and an assisted rescue.

This course is perfect for beginner students who are looking to learn the correct paddling techniques and safety principles.


The aim of the Paddle Canada Level 1 course is as follows:  Paddle Canada Level-1 provides the skill and knowledge necessary for day-long sea kayaking trips in sheltered waters (non-wilderness areas). Successful completion of Level-1 indicates competence to paddle a sea kayak within a sheltered bay in the company of one or more paddlers with Level-1 or greater skill and knowledge.

4. Paddle Canada Level 2 Kayak Course - For dates, prices and full details click here.

The aim of the Paddle Canada Level 2 course is as follows:  Building on the skills developed in Level-1, Level-2 provides paddlers with the intermediate skills they need to go sea kayaking in moderate conditions.  Leadership, incident management, open-water rescue, self-care and navigation are core parts of the L2 course.

Our Paddle Canada Level 2 courses are run over 2 weekends on a Saturday & Sunday so you don't need to take a vacation day from work to attend the Paddle Canada Level 2 course.

You will be shown how to safely and confidently interpret marine weather forecasts, read nautical charts and topo’s (maps), how to use a compass, how to shoot a bearing, how to plot a course on a chart, how to calculate speed and distance and how to plan routes on the great lakes and on oceans and how to use a GPS.

6. Ocean Sea Kayak Skills Development Trips 

Each year we run kayak trips to the west and east coast of Canada & USA to give paddlers exposure to paddling and  training in a ocean environment.  Students get a chance to paddle and play in currents, ocean swells and to enjoy some time rock gardening, kayak surfing and sightseeing.
